Any update on this? Recall that the Logs show both the Insteon device and the Hue light bulb getting status update of 100, but none of the GUIs show the Insteon device as being ON....but does show the Hue device as ON.

Hi Chris,
I only have the standard Windowd Defender (and excluded the CastleOS folders under Program Files(x86) and ProgramData). I can try disabling real time protection if you think it will make any difference.

One other thought, if you can figure out a way to set up the Harmony "activity" to open an app, do that too. That way you can say to CastleOS "Computer activate Harmony Netflix" and it will activate the activity that starts Netflix, and likewise for Hulu etc.

I'm pretty sure the TV apps will respond to the TV controls. For instance, let's say you have a Samsung TV. You add the Samsung TV to Harmony, and it discovers everything it can do, including fast forward and rewind. When you send the rewind IR command to the TV, the TV will route it to the app.

So you don't have to set up the apps on Harmony, just the TV...

Chris, I already have a harmony hub with an IR blaster I just need to configure it. That does make sense and thank you sir. My tv already has the apps on it and maybe I can figure out how to get it set up on my harmony hub.

Here are the detailed notes I made when I did this:

1) Follow instructions for AutoView manual titled:
"Adding a New Remote When the Only Remote Controlling the Shade is Lost" Step-1
This will remove the Primary Controller from the motor's memory, but keeps the shade's stops in memory.
(press and hold the shade's buttons ~7sec until shade jogs, then release button)
2) Remove Aeotec USB dongle from PC, put it in inclusion mode
(by tapping its Action button until LED blinks blue) and carry it close to the shade.
3) Follow instructions for AutoView manual titled:
"Adding a New Remote When the Only Remote Controlling the Shade is Lost" Step-3.
This tells the motor to complete the inclusion process.
(press and hold the motor's button ~3seconds until Green LED flashing).
Aeotect Blue LED should go solid for ~2sec which confirms the inclusion. It will next start flashing again.
For me, the motor's Green LED went solid for several seconds, and then turned off.
4) Put Aeotec Stick back in CastleOS machine.
5) CastleOS should auto-discover the shade the shade with name: "Switch Multilevel:n"
where "n" may correspond to the next numbered ZWave device.
It will correspond to a dimmer. The On should open the shades, and off should close.
The Dimmer settings work corresponding to percent the shades should open.
After several minutes later, the battery level will show up as well
(Note: You may have to re-enable ZWave in CastleOS reboot the machine, or both and make sure the COM port is still correct).

Thanks for the support Chris, so far so good.

As for the OS lights we looked into,I remembered why Energy eye will not do what I want. I need the lights to go from 30 - 100 upon motion for two minutes or as long as motion persists, then back to 30% - that we did.
However I only want them to go back to 30 between sunset and 11PM. After 11:00 PM I want the lights to come on at 100% upon motion, as before, for 2 minutes or as long as motion persists, but then go OFF (0%).
So, if there were a way to add condition to the device or sensor in energy eye to only accomplish this task before XX hr. or after XX hr (for the reverse situation pre sunrise) then we would have it made!

Hey Kevin, just wanted to check in again, and see how you are making out.

For this logic flow, I think the best thing is to script it out, and use a simple motion detection to trigger the script. I'd be happy to help you get this set up.

Thanks!

Hi Allan, this is a bit of a tricky situation because those apps do not have native APIs. However, the latest releases of CastleOS are adding direct control of multimedia components through IR blasters.

For your case, I would recommend getting a Harmony hub and configuring that for your entertainment system. Then, once it's configured, you can connect it to CastleOS, which will discover everything that you configured, and allow control over it via voice.

Hope that makes sense, please let me know if not and I'll provide more info. Thanks!

Hi Glen, what have you tried? You should simply need to add the Z-Wave devices to CastleOS.

Tommy:

I've tried the same and have had no luck. Would you mind telling me step by step how you did it? I have Bali blinds with z-wave plus remotes and have AeotecGen5-USB/CastleOS.

Thank you very much,
Glen

I finally got the Autoview based motorized shades in and tried them out. These are ZWave+ devices. It works!!
I followed the Autoview instructions for replacing a lost remote with a new remote but substituted the AeotecGen5-USB/CastleOS as the new remote.
The motorized shade shows up in CastleOS as a dimmer.
The ON opens the shade, OFF closes the shade.
Dimmer percentage works too. It is the percentage the shade opens.
Occasionally, the battery level shows up as well.

Chris, I did notice one issue. If I set the shade to a certain percentage, or even ON as 100%, afterwards the GUI shows a different percentage.
What appears to be happening is that the shade moves and when it finishes it reports the percentage in hex instead of decimal, and CastleOS displays the hex value in the GUI. For example, if I set the shade to 55% (I see this in the log as updated status to 55%) and ~10sec later I see in the log that it updated status to 37. 37(hex) is 55(decimal). The GUI shows the shade as set to 37%.

Chris,

Had something weird happen today. When I went to use CastleOS, it took me to the login screen, where my normal username/password were already entered (Chrome saved password). But when I tried to login, I got a username/password not recognized error.

So I tried to log in as Admin (which I had previously set to the same password as my primary user account), and got the same error.

Fortunately, I had a third user account with a different password, and that one was able to log in successfully and Edit User to reset the password on my primary.

Since the Admin password didn't work (and you must be logged in as Admin to change the Admin password), I was NOT able to reset its password through the UI. So I killed the Core Service, and copy/pasted the pasted the password in Configuration.xml from my primary account to the adminPassword field.

So everything is back to normal, but do you have any idea what could cause this? I was able to use it yesterday, but I don't know how long the login cookie is set to last, so this might have broken with the last update (2/8) and only become apparent when the cookie expired?

I'm pretty confident it's not from the last update, or any recent update. I've seen this before a long time ago. Windows triggers something that on occasion causes the encryption key to change. So in effect, it saves your password but when you try to log in, it won't recognize it because the keys don't match.

I'd recommend that you make a backup of your configuration.xml file with the known "good" passwords. I'll revisit the encryption library we are using to see if there is any documentation about this.

Thanks again for the report!!

Topic: Z-NET network support?
Hello,

I've seen some older posts (2015) that mention upcoming support for HomeSeer's Z-NET IP based z-wave controllers though the latest version of CastleOS (1.3.3170) doesn't seem to have support or I simply can't find it. Is there Z-NET functionality available?

Thanks!

Hi,
Everytime I reboot my computer, I have to re-enter the license key. CastleOS resets back to an unlicensed state.
It doesn't happen if I only restart the service. Running v.1.3.3170, but it has happened on earlier versions as well.

Apologies it looks like an updated file didn't get into that build. Will be in the next, that feature has not changed.

1.3.3170 Does this feature still work? I went to "Add Device" and entered "Virtual" as the protocol and expected URL dialog boxes to show up, but it seems to only want Insteon parameters

Assuming it's happening to a wide variety of devices. And it continues to do so after a restart.
