starting totally from scratch... 

I know some of this would most likely go in the General Support area but since I am going to get the Hub, I wanted the best advice that might apply to the hardware that the Hub comes with.

I have an old wired system but basically want to start over from scratch for the security part.
I understand that the Hub will connect to different protocols but my main question is, if I am starting from scratch, which protocol would be the best to use? Again, especially for the security part to start.
I see a lot of Insteon devices and I hear some things about z-wave.
So, for you guys that have already been through this in your house, if you were to do it over and if you were getting the Hub, what would you get?
