Since it has been announced windows 10 is launching July 29th are you still planning on shipping with wnidows 8.1 or are you upgrading to 10?

Any chance of an update on when castlehub might be shipping?

Here's where things stand with Windows 10: Windows 8.1 with Bing users are eligible for the free upgrade to Windows 10 Home. However, what's not clear from Microsoft yet is if the factory can ship it with Windows 10 preloaded to us, or if the upgrade must go through Windows Update after its first run.

It may be that we have to do the upgrade for everyone here at the lab before shipping them out, but it is indeed our intent to get everyone over to Windows 10 if possible.

In terms of shipping time frame, we're on pace to meet our original end of July ship date, but if we do make the switch to Windows 10 it will likely necessitate a delay into August. We think it will be well worth it though!

Arhh Chris,

I think its a complete waste of developer time to upgrade each device to windows 10.

Its fare more efficient to just include a note saying "please upgrade to windows 10". am sure users can atleast click on that upgrade button and wait sometime for the upgrade to complete.

and for your information there is no such thing as "Windows 10". anyone who wants to buy a windows 10 must be a windows 8 CD. thats the statement they have on their website.

I believe by next year when the "free upgrade" is over, they will launch official windows 10 CD to the stores.

Advantage:
1. users get the product on time
2. save developer time to focus on other more important things.
3. Customer always gets happy when they get to click on "update" "upgrade" its in our DNA, smile

Hey Jevan, a couple extra things to consider. Not all customers are going to use this with a monitor or TV, so not everyone has the option to do a manual upgrade. In addition, we don't want to ship two versions of the same product a couple months apart. In other words, we don't want to ship 8.1 first, and then switch to 10, and have two different versions in the wild. So we'd like to standardize on Windows 10...
