Hello Everyone!

I'm very excited to share some major updates regarding the CastleHUB! We have three big updates for you.

1) Production is in Progress!

Production of the CastleHUB is well underway! The last piece to finalize production is to generate the Windows/CastleOS image file that is placed on the systems. Due to the move detailed below under Windows 10, we need a few extra weeks to transition our images from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Production is already in progress, and we currently plan to begin shipping by the end of August. More info below...

2) The CastleHUB Will Be Shipping with Windows 10

When we started the design process, we always left often the possibility of moving to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, but the final release dates hadn't been announced. However, we're happy to say over the last month Microsoft has finalized not only the release date, but the licensing terms for devices such as the CastleHUB, and we're making the move to Windows 10!

Unfortunately the timing of the new Windows release does necessitate that we push back shipments of the CastleHUB a few weeks. It's important to note that the hardware itself is not changing, but we need time to integrate the latest bits from Microsoft (which were officially released a little less than five hours ago!) into our system. We apologize for this inconvenience, but believe it will be very much worth it!

3) The CastleHUB Will Include TeamViewer Built In, Allowing Local and Support Logins

This is a really cool feature for those who want to take advantage of their CastleHUB to run other Windows-compatible entertainment, security, and other related apps, as well as dealers and users who'd like remote troubleshooting. The TeamViewer feature of the CastleHUB and the CastleOS app allows two major capabilities.

First, it allows you to generate a TeamViewer access code from the CastleOS app, which you can then use to log into the base Windows environment from any mobile device or computer. If you'd like to set up a media server like Plex, Kodi, or Emby, this is the best way to do it. (You can of course always connect it to a monitor, but this is referring to "headless" use cases.)

Second, if you run into trouble that you just cannot figure out, you can generate a support request from within the CastleOS app that will allow your automation professional or the CastleOS team to log in remotely and troubleshoot. This provides us barebones access to the system, meaning we have the fully ability to diagnose and treat any issues relating to configuration, driver, or other software problems.

Announcements regarding Cortana, Xbox, Kinect v2, and more are still to come!! Please let us know if you have any questions!!

Hey Chris

Some good news here.

I strongly suggest you post this as a backer only update on Kickstarter, so its sent to all backers and they know progress is being made. Once again I only stumbled on this cause I've been on the lookout for it

Production is just wrapping up. We're waiting to hear from the manufacturer on an expected ship date, and as soon as we do we'll send out an email blast! It's right around the corner... smile

It's been a couple weeks, do you have a status for shipment yet? I am not try to rush the process, I would much rather have a fully vetted product that works. It just been a couple weeks, so I was wonder how close we are getting. Super stoked and antsy to get the hub up an running. It's replacing my current older less resourced home theater/ Homelinc PC, lol.

Hey Chris -

I've been trying not to harass, but I'm starting to get a bit twitchy, probably not unlike many others by now. Any useful updates? Based on your last post I'd like to think that a shipping date should have either been set or has been executed and by now and the hardware is trying to travel to my doorstep as I write this.

Thanks for the update Chris. I'll continue anxiously awaiting the arrival. Hopefully they don't "disappear" into the bottomless pit that is customs. Are they being shipped direct to us via the manufacturer or are they all going to Castle HQ first, then re-shipped from there?

Should I expect an email notification of shipping with tracking number, etc... or should I continue to hope to see Brown Santa/harass my post master daily?

Hello,

I pre-ordered mine back in August, and have been tracking this thread. 11 more days have gone by with no real info. Is there anything at all new? Have they been sent out? Any info would be great here as I am sure we are all waiting anxiously.

Hey Chris,

It's been almost 3 weeks since we have had a substantive update on progress. Can you confirm that the Hubs have cleared customs? Are you loading the software after they arrive in the U.S.? If so, does that mean that the hitch right now is ironing out the new API?

thanks,
mkb

I'm also anxious to see the project really lift off. I haven't backed or ordered yet, as I got burned a few times on kickstarter (SOAP anyone ?) and as a result of that elected to not back anything and just pay the full price when a product actually hits the market.

In my case, it's more waiting for the new API to be released - with support for much more stuff. Especially the INSTEON mini-remotes, that's the final piece of the puzzle in my setup.
