A forum topic for suggesting new features for CastleOS
Computer has a fetish for being told what to do

Finally got my Kinect v1 today, and have been playing around with talking to CastleOS.
One thing my girlfriend picked up on in our testing, was that the computer really likes to be dominated. It doesn't respond well when you ask it nicely to do things. For example
Computer, please turn off the lights Computer, can you turn the lights off?
Both of those commands won't work. The computer will only respond if you say it in the predetermined way.
Computer, turn off the lights
It would be good for CastleOS to not require speech in a certain format.

Pleasantries aren't directly supported, since they are sort of superfluous But we may be able to add it! Will look into it... Thanks as always! -Chris

Have you seen Wit? http://wit.aiIts an API for developers to translate natural text into commands. I'm currently experimenting with it to create a chat bot internal staff can use to get information quickly. Its designed for things like this, but unfortunately is cloud based. For the time being, I guess adding manners like please and thank you could be checked against a regular expression

That's cool, thank you. I will check it out in detail.
Just so you know, there's two ways to process speech: via open dication, and via grammars. The Kinect speech processor uses the grammar method.
