How to 'call' a script

I have read all the threads on CastleOS scripting and I'm just a little confused; i have 2 questions. 1. How do I call a script from within CastleOS? 2. Can I change the script folder location? Most of the scripts I want to run have nothing to do with the Kinect... |

I read your compatibility list and did not see the standard GE 12722 Z Wave switch or GE 45610WB auxiliary switch (for 2-way, 3-way, etc). You did list the standard GE Z Wave dimmer, I'm hoping that these are just a supported but not listed devices? |

Thanks for the prompt response. So I'm guessing there is no way to call a script without using my voice? AKA I can't click the 'On' button for one of my HUE bulbs and have that kick off a script?
Thank you once again for such an awesome product! |

General improvements...

This doesn't really fit in either bugs or feature requests; however.
First off I use a lot of different home automation hardware and software, and I love the direction that this software is headed; I'm crossing my fingers.
1. When you add z-wave devices I currently have to restart CastleOS to recognize these devices. It would be nice if this occurred dynamically. 2. There are some counter-intuitive elements in the GUI. For instance, when you go to the z-wave interface, if you click on the add device it sends you to the login screen. I know that you add them under add devices and then choose the protocol, but the other link to add devices is ambiguous. 3. When I edit events it appears I have to manually select all the 'variables' again; rather than editing what I already had.
I will add more as I think of them. edited by MrMxyzptlk on 3/24/2015 |

For instance I have an event that turns on a binary switch at 10PM every night. If I go back and edit that device it appears that I have to go through each screen of date, time, what I what to do rather than see all the 'variables' for the scene and just change that particular one. Maybe I'm not doing the edits right? If I just want to go back and change the time, to let's say 9PM, currently I have to go through the whole event again, just like when I first created the event.
Also a date / time picker that has the ability to pick weeks, weekends, etc... would be very handy. I may want my alarm to go off during the week but not the weekend, and don't want to have to program an event for every day of the week....
Thank you for a great product, and keep up the good work. |

On / Off buttons in GUI

Chris, one thing that always triggers in my head when I use the CastleOS GUI is the On / Off status buttons. I get how you have them currently set to show a green On when the device is off, however; this is easily interpreted as meaning the device is already on, and is just indicating the status of the device.
I don't know how everyone else feels about this, but I would much rather have a 'column' that has a header of "Status" and then shows the device status as opposed to the action. Does that make sense? Of course you would be able to click the devices status to change states or whatever is appropriate for that device. |

Pushy, Pushy. I hear where you are going with this Phil. I too am very skeptical on the timeline, especially when you look at past threads and missing promised dates continually. I'm taking a calculated risk by backing the hub and running the software, as I feel that Microsoft probably has some skin in the game on this project...I guess only time will tell. |

I agree 10000%, I want voice control, but want the ability to control the same things without voice. That would drive me crazy if I have to speak everytime I want to control something. |

Couple of Quick Scripting Questions

I answered my first question. It appears the CastleOS ScriptingAPI class only support the Speak() method (which is async for any interested). It looks like the intent for the scripting extensibility is to run C# code that performs actions external to CastleOS. I am still curious about the second question though.
I believe that the scripting engine will be added to the events and actions in the GUI in release 2.0. This is supposedly with the hub release. |

I just tried the new GUI buttons and I like the direction you are taking. My biggest issue is still the same...if I look at the button it still does not intuitively show if 'Off' is the status or the action. If you are going to leave the buttons to only show one half of the state, ie. On or Off, then I would at least have a column header showing "Status". I personally like to see both On and Off at the same time with either one highlighted or check marked or however you want to designate the status.
Thank you for the excellent work! |

No longer true. You can now get the 994i with either a zwave module or a zigbee module. If you go look at the API you can now control the other protocols...i think the models that come with the chip are 994iz or you can purchase an addon for your 994i. |
