Hello Everyone!
I'm very excited to share some major updates regarding the CastleHUB! We have three big updates for you.
1) Production is in Progress!
Production of the CastleHUB is well underway! The last piece to finalize production is to generate the Windows/CastleOS image file that is placed on the systems. Due to the move detailed below under Windows 10, we need a few extra weeks to transition our images from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Production is already in progress, and we currently plan to begin shipping by the end of August. More info below...
We have now reached August 27th. Are there any additional updates on either features or shipping date? |

Thanks!! Almost there

Hey Chris,
It's been almost 3 weeks since we have had a substantive update on progress. Can you confirm that the Hubs have cleared customs? Are you loading the software after they arrive in the U.S.? If so, does that mean that the hitch right now is ironing out the new API?
thanks, mkb |

Hey Guys, I can confirm this is an iOS 9 bug - no other platforms are presenting it. However, I haven't yet narrowed down the precise cause. I think it's because the Apple UIWebView is buggy with a specific piece of CSS, but I'm not sure which yet. The CSS works on iOS7, iOS8, and all other platforms, so it's local just to iOS9.

Any update? I cannot enter credentials from my iPhone or iPad, which sort of defeats the purpose of having the hub at this point. |

Different Password Problem
Mbassham
|
Since I was unable to log into the Hub with my iOS 9.X devices and could log in but not use the Menu on a Windows machine, I decided to hook up a keyboard and monitor to the Hub. After doing that, I was able to log in using "admin" and "password1234." But, the screen was stretched out so that I could not see the things at the edges. I tried to remedy this by changing the display setting. In order for those setting changes to take effect, I had to log out. When I tried to log back in, it only asked me for a password, not a username. When I tried to guess the password, it told me I was wrong, but offered a hint having to do with the username.
How do I get back into the software?
How do I adjust the display without screwing things up?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hey Mkb,
What you do mean on the Windows machine you couldn't use the menu? What browser was that in?
The display resolution weirdness is probably because the monitor/computer "handshake" didn't work correctly, so it went to a default setting. For the password, trying entering no password at all (and yes, you can change this manually if you'd like).
Thanks, Chris
Everything I said, except the bit about the Windows issue, should be considered an eyedee ten tee (idiot) error. I apologize.
I was working on a laptop running Windows 7 Professional. Using the internal IP, I arrived at the sign in page and entered "admin" and "password1234" to log in. When I clicked on Menu, it told me that it wouldn't work until I put it in portrait mode. I did that and was able to open the menu. But, from there, nothing I clicked on responded. |

What did you try to click on? What browser are you using?
(I should note that the iOS 9 problem persists.)
I was using Internet Explorer and tried all the buttons on the box that popped up when I clicked on menu. |

Another Sonos/Wemo basics question

Neither my Sonos Playbar nor any of my Wemo devices are showing up in CastleOS on my hub. I have 7 Wemo light switches and 1 Wemo Insight switch. One Sonos Playbar is connected to the router via Ethernet cable. No other Sonos components are connected to the router via Ethernet. I am accessing CastleOS on the Hub via a screen and keyboard attached to it. When I go into the folder at the bottom of the screen, and click on "Network," the listing includes all 8 Wemo devices, the Playbar, 3 Play 1s and one Sonos Sub. The Playbar and a single Play 1 are listed as media devices.
When I open the Kinect Service Configurator (I do not have a Kinect), the drop down menu on Zone Speaker offers me Windows and Sonos. Under selection, I can choose between a Play 1 and the Playbar. It does not seem to be saving my selections there.
My hub is connected to the router wirelessly over a 2.4 MHz network, which is shared by all of these components. The router is an Apple Time Capsule. NAT-PMP is enabled.
The OS found my 2 Nest thermostats and my 8 Hue lights without problem. What am I doing wrong? Thanks. |

So it appears it does see the wired Sonos devices, but not the wireless WeMo devices. And I do understand Windows is seeing them, but CastleOS is not. The two Play:1s that are not showing are likely because they are set to act as rear R/L speakers for the playbar?
The question is, why are the WeMo devices not showing. Can you tell me what models you have and how long ago you purchased them? We have seen reports that newer WeMo devices are not getting detected.
You are correct on all counts. Windows is seeing all the devices; Castle is seeing one wired and one unwired Sonos. The Playbar, Sub and two of the Play 1s work together with the Play 1s as R/L.
The Wemo light switches were all bought in July of 2015 and are all model F7C030fc. The Insight switch was purchased in January 2014 and is model F7C029fc. Thanks. |

Email Settings Won't Save

Under "Settings," "Email & SMS" I have tried repeatedly to enter my credentials. But, it won't save my password. I'm using a Yahoo account, but have also tried with a Gmail account. "Smtp.mail.yahoo.com" is in the SMTP Server slot; my user name, including "@yahoo.com" is in the user name slot; the port is 465 and the "ssl/tsl" box is checked, although I have tried it unchecked. I have entered my email password in the appropriate spot. When I click on "Save Email Settings," the page refreshes and the password slot is once again empty.
What am I doing wrong?
Chris: I note that you haven't logged in since about 9:30 p.m. on 10/26/15. I'm guessing that you and your team are up to your eyeballs with work trying to get the new API finished before the end of the month as promised, shipping out the next set of Hubs and until recently, responding to cries for help on the forum. I continue to be excited about the possibilities your Hub represents. And, I'm willing to wait a bit longer for those possibilities to be realized. But, you might think about just posting an update to let us all know you are still alive and working on this and have a goal of addressing all of these issues within XX days. Thank you for your personal efforts to resolve issues confronted by your customers. Being an early adopter always involves some bumps. |

After the refresh, what happens if you try sending a test email? It sounds like the settings are getting saved successfully... I did just double check and no confirmation message shows, I'll add that to the to-do list..
Sorry. I should have said that I have tried sending a test email several times. Nothing comes through. |

Chris: I know you have a lot going on. But, it's been 9 days since I asked you about the issues I'm seeing with your product and several Wemo products. Please at least let me know if you intend to respond and attempt to resolve these issues. I'm having problems with the product in other ways but don't believe it's a good use of my time to try to address them with you at this point. |

Laundry Notification?
Mbassham
|
One of my goals with home automation is to receive a notification on my phone when the washer and dryer are done. The way my house is configured, I cannot always hear the chimes of the machines. It seems there are two likely successful ways to do this.
1. load sensor at the outlet, or 2. vibration sensor on each machine.
Load sensor seems like the more difficult option. I haven’t found a load sensor that would, with any certainty, work. Perhaps this one would work: http://smartenit.com/product/zbmlc30/ . But, it might require more expertise than I possess.
Vibration sensor seems like the option most likely to be successful. To work, the sensor would have to be able to prompt a notification when vibration stopped for a period longer than X seconds. It is possible that the Aeotec MultiSensor 6 (http://aeotec.com/z-wave-sensor). But, the new API is certainly necessary to implement Gen5 Z-Wave and enable use of that sensor.
Another way to do this would be to use a noise sensor to detect the chime of the machines. That seems likely to be difficult.
Questions: A. Am I correct that the new API to be out in about 1 week will cause CastleOS to work with the Aeotec MultiSensor 6? B. Assuming the answer to A is “yes,” can CastleOS and the MultiSensor 6 work together to accomplish this goal? C. If the answer to B is “yes,” would that require a special script? D. If the answer to B is “no,” why not? E. Is there a better way to accomplish this goal?
